Preserving a Century of Elsa’s Culinary Heritage: A Community Call for Recipes
As the City of Elsa approaches its 100th anniversary in March 2027, the Elsa EDC is proud to announce the creation of the Elsa Centennial Cookbook — a commemorative collection of the recipes and traditions that have defined our community for generations. We invite every Elsa family to be part of this lasting tribute.
A Community Milestone Worth Preserving
For a century, food has been at the heart of life in Elsa. The dishes shared at family gatherings, holidays, and everyday tables tell the story of who we are and where we come from. Many of these recipes have been passed down informally — never recorded, and at risk of being lost with time.
The Elsa Centennial Cookbook aims to change that. By gathering and preserving these recipes in a single commemorative volume, we hope to honor our shared history and pass it on to the generations of Elsa residents still to come.
We Invite Your Contribution
This cookbook will be built entirely from the contributions of our community, and we encourage all residents to take part. Whether your recipe has been in your family for generations or has simply become a household favorite, we welcome your submission. Selected recipes will be featured in the official Elsa Centennial Cookbook, with contributors recognized by name.
How to Submit
Residents may submit their recipes through either of the following:
Online: Visit elsacookbook.com to complete the submission form, where you may also share the story behind your dish.
Email: Send your recipe directly to scantu@elsaedc.com. Photographs of handwritten recipe cards are welcome.
To help us prepare each entry, please include the following where possible:
- The name of the dish
- A complete list of ingredients and preparation instructions
- The contributor’s name and the recipe’s connection to your family
- A photograph of the dish, the cook, or the original recipe, if available
Help Us Reach Every Kitchen in Elsa
We encourage residents to extend this invitation to family members across every generation. Grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings may each hold recipes worth preserving. Your outreach may be the reason a treasured family dish becomes part of Elsa’s permanent record.
Together, we can create a cookbook that reflects the full richness of our community and stands as a lasting tribute to Elsa’s first 100 years.
To contribute, visit elsacookbook.com or email your recipe to scantu@elsaedc.com.
