Event recap: Halloween – Festival of Frights

What an incredible time Elsa EDC had at last week’s Festival of Frights! Last Monday, Elsa city staff and volunteers welcomed over 3,000 attendees for a night of family, friends, and plenty of fun. Goblins, ghouls, princesses and superheroes made their way through the crowd while gathering candy and participating in events for the entire family. Entertainment included live music and performances by Edcouch-Elsa mariachi, a traditional cake walk, a costume contest, and hay rides for the kids. The event was hosted by the Elsa Economic Development Corporation in partnership with several local sponsors including Coldwell Banker Commercial RGV, OMDM Investments, LLC, CSJ Group, RJ Garza & Co., O’Hanlon, Demerath & Castillo and Tents on 10th.

“We are honored to be able to put on this event for Elsa residents,” said Daniel Rivera, Executive Director at Elsa EDC. “Not only were we able to provide a safe environment for kids to Trick or Treat, but our sponsors were also able to say thank you to the residents that support their businesses all year long. It was a great time for everyone.”

Over a dozen local organizations and businesses participated in the Festival of Frights, including Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, City of Elsa Police Department, Dr. Ricardo Ochoa, IDEA Elsa, Salinas Funeral Home, Busy Bee Beehive Learning Center, David Fuentes, HEB, Walmart, John Hoody’s Nutrition Shop, VFW Auxiliary, and Charmed by Steff.

“Thank you to the many sponsors and local organizations who came together to ensure such a great event for our Elsa residents,” said Rivera. “We are thankful for everyone’s hard work in putting this event together, and we are already looking forward to planning next year’s event.”
