The Elsa Economic Development Corporation (EDC) made strides toward building a more resilient business community by hosting a successful workshop focused on disaster preparedness and the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) disaster programs. Held at the Betuzas Coffee Cafe, the event saw participation from nearly 25 local business owners from Elsa and the surrounding areas, contributing to the sense of unity and cohesion that the Elsa EDC aims to foster.
Our special guest, Susheel Kumar from the SBA’s Office of Disaster Relief & Recovery office in California, added considerable depth to the discussion. Veronica Chavez from the SBA office in Harlingen, Texas, kicked off the event with an insightful presentation. This was followed by an update from Daniel Rivera, the Elsa EDC Director, who emphasized the significance of their pulse survey program for establishing a robust business environment in Elsa.
The workshop was not just about imparting knowledge, but also about fostering interactions. The one-hour event provided ample opportunities for the participants to voice their questions, learn from each other’s experiences, and receive relevant material to help them plan better for their respective businesses.
